10th Annual Red Cross Red Tie Event
May 14, 2016
Bergamot Station, Santa Monica CA
My first event! I am so honored to have been invited by the American Red Cross in Los Angeles to paint live at their 10th Annual Red Tie event at the Bergamot Station in Santa Monica, CA. I created a piece inspired by Red Cross' seven principles: humanity, impartiality, neutrality, independence, voluntary service, unity, and universality. The painting was sold at the end of the event to raise funds for the Red Cross.

About the painting:
From a dove's eye view of our planet, the world has shrunk to a global village. From this perspective, we see seven red crosses representing the Red Cross' seven principles, bringing hope, relief, and new life in every corner of the earth.
Rain, floodwaters, and a turbulent ocean represent hardship and disaster in its many forms. But tents provide a safe harbor from the storms, and a plane carrying Red Cross staff and aid soars above it all, a tribute to the Red Cross' deep roots in wartime efforts.
From the tempestuous sea, schools of fish leap towards the sky in an exuberant display of optimism. On the horizon, a rising sun brings a new day, and in the Red Cross' peacetime efforts to promote health and life, flowers bloom under a clear sky.
